Training Nationals for Nationals<\/span>\u00a0in integrity and skills (Psalm 78:72)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

THE SHEPHERD<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

(Mat 9:36)\u00a0\u00a0But when He saw the\u00a0multitudes<\/span>, He was\u00a0moved with compassion<\/span>\u00a0on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as\u00a0sheep having no shepherd<\/span>.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Sheep without a shepherd will be lost, defenceless and unproductive.\u00a0 The following will give us a short devotional of our Great Shepherd as given in Psalm 23.<\/b><\/p>\n

I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0THE THEME<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0(Psalm 23:1)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cThe LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Confidence<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 \u201cYahweh, my Shepherd\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n

The Eternal Self-existing and Relational One is my Shepherd.<\/b><\/p>\n

B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Conclusion<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 \u201cI shall not want\u201d \u2013 I will have no lack of anything or anyone.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe maketh me to lie down in green pastures;\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Place \u2013 in green pastures, richer oasis-like spots in a barren land.<\/b><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Persons \u2013 HE will cause me to lie down.\u00a0 HE knows where, how and when.<\/b><\/p>\n

B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Refreshment<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>(2b)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe leadeth me beside the still waters.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0The Place \u2013 by waters of refreshment, waters not stagnant but gentle and calm.<\/b><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Persons \u2013 HE will tend me, leading and refreshing in the drinking place.<\/b><\/p>\n

C.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Restoration<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>(3a)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe restoreth my soul;\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Promptitude to interpose \u2013 He will restore the sick to health and the weak to strength.<\/b><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Person to be restored \u2013 my soul to be restored to fellowship and service.<\/b><\/p>\n

D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Guidance<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>(3b)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cHe leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His Name\u2019s sake.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Promise \u2013 HE will lead, going before and not driving the sheep.<\/b><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Paths \u2013 the paths of righteousness, straight paths to an expected end.<\/b><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Person \u2013 \u201cme\u201d \u2013 personal providence involved.<\/b><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Purpose \u2013 \u201cFor His Name\u2019s sake\u201d \u2013 for His own glory, true to the Shepherd name.<\/b><\/p>\n

E.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Protection<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>(4)<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cYea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Condition \u2013 also when I walk through a valley of shadow of death, going through the peril of death so often experienced in life.\u00a0 It could include death itself.\u00a0 Yet it is only a shadow not the substance.\u00a0 And when there is a shadow, there must be a light and there is, for Yahweh is the Light.<\/b><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Courage \u2013 I will not fear evil, not that there is no evil, but that there is no fear in the midst of evil.<\/b><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Companionship \u2013 for Yahweh is with me, my Comforter, Guide and Protector.\u00a0 There is no fear of loneliness in dark times.<\/b><\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>The Comfort \u2013 Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.\u00a0 The rod and staff are symbols of the Shepherd\u2019s presence.\u00a0 The rod, the symbol of defending power, is used against enemies.\u00a0 The staff, symbol of affection and possession, is used for guiding and restoring.\u00a0 The comfort is strength stimulated and renewed.<\/b><\/p>\n

As the LORD God is our faithful Shepherd, may we also be faithful in shepherding ourselves, our families and one another in God\u2019s household of faith.\u00a0 May we provide rest, refreshment, restoration, guidance and protection.\u00a0 Help us and grant it, LORD Shepherd.\u00a0 Amen.<\/b><\/p>\n

I.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>GREAT TRAINING IN MEDAN, INDONESIA AND NEPAL<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Medan Indonesia (23-27 Feb).<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Two trainers were at hand.\u00a0 Mr Ding continued in his leadership training.\u00a0 Mr Goh Lay Guan worked on Principles of Teaching.\u00a0 Rev. Haposan did a great job in co-ordinating and interpreting.\u00a0 The college there has full time students doing Bachelor degrees in addition to the students doing the Master degrees in the modular classes.\u00a0 Prayer and funds are needed to enable him to complete the Trainers\u2019 Quarters for our trainers to lodge instead of staying in hotels. \u00a0The June (22-26) sessions will be also helmed by our two trainers.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

B.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Nepal (1-5 March)<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Rev. Yap Beng Shin and Rev. Simon N. were our trainers.\u00a0 March is their annual slot.\u00a0 Rev. Yap led the study of the Prophetic Book of Daniel while Rev. Simon trained on Spiritual Disciplines.\u00a0 They were well received.\u00a0 There will be the Second Graduation this coming September).\u00a0 Praise the good Lord for using us.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

II.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>NOTE OF PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Our desire, as we train others, is to continue to upgrade ourselves in life-learning in seminars and other training opportunities.\u00a0 One aspect is for our trainers to be equipped to a doctoral level.\u00a0\u00a0Praise the good Lord for blessing Rev. Yap Beng Shin with the Doctor of Ministry degree<\/span>.\u00a0 His graduation will be on May 9th<\/sup>.\u00a0 We rejoice with him, his family and church.\u00a0 Two others, Rev. Tan Eng Boo and Mr. John Ching, are at their last lap.\u00a0 Please pray as they work on their DMin dissertation.\u00a0 Rev. Andrew Tan completed his PhD dissertation and is awaiting for confirmation.\u00a0 Rev. Simon N. is looking forward to begin his doctoral training this year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

We have been listening to the still small Voice of the loving LORD as we advance His desire as co-laborers with Him.\u00a0 We seek His desire in these two ventures.<\/b><\/p>\n

A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Batam, Indonesia<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The good Lord has opened the door of ministry in Batam for many years.\u00a0 He has established His people and churches.\u00a0 We are praying for training opportunities.\u00a0 Rev. Yap Beng Shin will be conducting a seminar on Big Picture Bible Study on Saturday, May 2, 9.30am to 4.30pm.\u00a0 The leaders there are Ang Liang and Kalvinto of Philadelphia Church.\u00a0 We are asking the good Shepherd for His will and timing of the future training.\u00a0 Other sheep and leaders, we will train.<\/b><\/p>\n

As the country continues in its nation building, infrastructure is lacking in many areas.\u00a0 One is the lack of human capital resource base.\u00a0 Young adults especially need Life skills and work skills in this emerging society.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>Our Vision is to disciple young Adults in the market place, so that they can be gainfully employed and be impactful in life, work and church.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0We will need mentoring trainers to impart knowledge, skills and life.\u00a0 We are putting together personnel, process and program.\u00a0 We will need businessmen to open doors for internships.\u00a0 We will need all our prayers and support for the good Lord to work in and through us.\u00a0 Please let us know of your desire and advice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
